What size collar should I
buy?
For adjustable
collars the easiest way to work that out is using the string test. Arm yourself
with a piece of string or cord & your pet. Place the string around your
pet's neck so it's a snug fit, mark a line on the string where it passes over
starting point, then lay the string out & measure the length, you should add
about 25mm & thats the size collar. For comfort of the pet you should be
able to slide two fingers (on top of each other) between the collar & the
neck. For correction or choker collars use the same string method but you should
allow an extra 100-150mm
What
length of lead is best?
That
is purely a matter of personal choice, however you should consider how tall you
are, how tall is the dog, how much control do you need to exercise, how close
(or far away) do you want the dog to be. In other words if you are a tall person
with a short dog you would probably be wise to consider a lead 150cm or greater
in length. We wouldn't want our dog to walk on tip toes now would we?
How do I measure my dog for a
harness?
Simple! get a tape measure
& let's start at the front of the dog. Hold the end of the tape in the
middle of the dog's chest, now measure around behind his head to the centre of
his neck, look at the measurement & double it (eg 21cm=42cm) now measure the
waist about 25mm (1") behind the front legs. DO NOT DOUBLE THIS
MEASUREMENT & thats it! If you are unsure just Email us the measurements
& we'll work it out for you.
How do
I measure my cat for a harness?
Exactly the same as for a dog but beware cat's have sharper teeth &
claws!
